Frolic and Detour: A Look at Some of Weil’s Other Blogs

By now, you’ve come to know the Weil Bankruptcy Blog as “the” source for cutting-edge analyses of all things restructuring.  But did you know that Weil, Gotshal & Manges also publishes other blogs?  Indeed, our colleagues regularly probe critical issues in other areas of the law.  Today, we want to take the opportunity to highlight these blogs, which we hope will bring you insight, enlightenment, and entertainment.  Given that restructuring intersects with so many areas of law, we’ve found these blogs to be particularly instructive – we hope you feel the same way. 
Weil European Restructuring Watch: You may be familiar with the blog that our overseas colleagues maintain, which discusses developments in restructuring law and in distressed marketplaces throughout Europe.  Led by our London group, the Weil European Restructuring Watch has also published Weil’s Comparative Guide to Restructuring Procedures and a guide to Schemes of Arrangement as Restructuring Tools.  Recent posts have discussed bank regulations and directives, “hot topics” in schemes of arrangement, and recent developments in sovereign debt restructuring.

Fun Fact: A recent search revealed no mention of the Queen in any posts on the Weil European Restructuring Watch.

Global Private Equity Watch: The Global Private Equity Watch publishes regular analyses of important issues affecting the world of private equity, in the US and overseas.  It also discusses market trends and circulates quarterly updates on the “hottest of the hot” issues in global private equity, Legal Perspectives from London, and an Annual Survey of sponsor-backed going private transactions.  Recent posts have discussed the value that the term “Affiliate” may have for private equity sponsors, analyses of leveraged lending, and other hot button items.

Antitrust/Competition Perspectives: Weil’s Antitrust/Competition practice is an “outstanding player” in the world of Antitrust M&A and Litigation.  The antitrust blog publishes in-depth analyses of issues related to antitrust and competition, as well as breaking news and alerts regarding important developments in that field.  Our competition team also publishes Cartel Watch, which tracks key developments in cartel enforcement and follow-on civil damage civil damage antitrust class action lawsuits in the US and internationally.

Fun Fact: The orange properties are some of the most commonly landed-upon properties in the classic Monopoly board game.

Product Liability Monitor: The Product Liability Monitor is published by attorneys in Weil’s Product Liability practice to discuss key trends, developments, and events that shape the product liability legal landscape.  It posts rapid updates on key developments in all things product liability, including same-day analysis of closely-watched court decisions.  Just this week, the “Monitor” needed just a few hours to post a review of the Supreme Court’s decisions in United States v. Wong and United States v. June.  Highlights include in-depth analyses of matters relating to “fracking,” expert testimony and Daubert, and the cost of compliance with the Clean Air Act.
