Over the past two weeks, we have asked you to determine the single most important U.S. bankruptcy decision of all time. The polling has finally closed, the votes counted. And, true to form, Marathon pulled off a big win over 203 North LaSalle in this final round of Bankruptcy Bracketology, living up to Coach Reilly’s axiom that “it’s not worth winning if you can’t win big.” Indeed, while all due respect is owed to runner-up 203 North LaSalle, your voices were heard, and Marathon truly changed the landscape of bankruptcy law.
Many (if not all) of the “Sweet Sixteen” are on our required reading list, and all of the cases that we’ve discussed here on the Weil Bankruptcy Blog are worthy of attention. Yet, in the words of the Highlander, “in the end, there can be only one.” So, as we recognize Marathon as the winner of the Weil Bankruptcy Blog’s tournament of champions, we continue to look forward to the next “big thing” in bankruptcy – rest assured, we’ll cover it here on the Bankruptcy Blog.
See you all next year, when we’ll try the BCS system!
